The older we get, the harder it becomes for us to hear high-frequency sounds. The worse it gets, the fewer chances you have of hearing the birds sing, the beeping of your microwave, and even consonants like s,h or f. You don’t want that to happen to you, right? After social media blew up over the debate of Laurel vs. Yanny, we recorded vocabulary.com audio of the word Laurel and here's what it says.
Cloe Feldman is the reason you and everyone else can't stop debating whether it's Yanny or Laurel. The YouTube vlogger shared a video clip on Twitter that she found on Reddit of an automated voice pronouncing the word "Laurel." Turns out the clip was from a vocabulary homework assignment Katie Hetzel, a high school freshman, had posted to Instagram. InsideEdition.com's Leigh Scheps (http://twitter.com/LeighTVReporter) has more.
The latest obsession on social media is causing a rift among users who are trying to debate what an audio file is saying. A clip posted earlier in the week has people divided if they are hearing “Yanny” or “Laurel.” Even musician Yanni was joking about it on social media saying "I only hear Yanni." It’s the audio equivalent of that dress that drove everyone crazy a few years back which had people debating if it was white and gold or black and blue.
The internet is divided over this auditory illusion. We went around the office to find out what our colleagues thought... and things got a bit heated. One year ago today, Robert Mueller was appointed to lead the investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
