On April 23rd, 2012, a United Airlines Airbus A320 operating flight 224 from Chicago to Boston was on approach to runway 22L at Logan airport when most of its navigation systems failed, followed by a loss of pressurization. The pilots declared emergency and looked for alternate airports: with none nearby with visual meteorological conditions, and with some systems back in working order, the pilots followed the ILS glideslope and then landed visually. Job well done. Recording from liveatc.net, edited and subtitled by myself.
An Allegiant Air pilot declared a fuel emergency and requested to land on a closed runway, which caused and argument between him and an air traffic controller. CBS News' Kris Van Cleave has the details.

TechZone ► https://goo.gl/Gj3wZs If you have ever traveled by plane, you know that take-off and landing are the most preoccupying moments of the entire flight. Which is not surprising at all, since up to 70 percent of all accidents happen in these moments, and sometimes only the great skills of pilots save the plane from falling and passengers from the tragedy. These conquerors of the air are so cool that they are capable of the most incredible things. Ready to take a look at some of them?

On February 15, 2013, Ryanair flight 227 , a Boeing 737 inbound to Dublin from London, landed long on runway 28 at DUB and performed a 180 on the runway rather than vacating at B7, the taxiway at the end of the runway. Two Aer Lingus flights had to go around while the runway was occupied, and more delays took place while the runway was inspected for possible foreign object debris left by the hard braking action. Edited for length. Recorded on Liveatc.net Edited by Daniel Mori

Lots of flights were coming and going during the 7PM hour a few nights ago, Swiss International was given full length to land, which happened to go thru a crosswind active runway. Sun Country was landing on that other active runway---guess you can say bad timing. I dont really consider this a "close call or near miss"Good job to the controller for fixing this up quickly! Just shows how rough the job can really get
