Hush-Kit brings a different voice to the world of aviation. Well-informed, humorous, disrespectful and engaging — Hush-kit is an altogether different aviation site. Featuring interviews pilots, designers and subject experts, analysis, satire and trips to the obscure and bizarre areas of aviation few others cover, the site has established itself as a favourite among aficionados and professionals alike. In 2018, Hush-Kit introduced this YouTube channel in an attempt to further distract people from doing their work.

Why the U.S Built Only 3 of the Deadliest Submarines Ever, Like The F-22 of Submarines

The 'F-22' of Submarines: Why America Built Only 3 of the Deadliest Submarines Ever In the late 1980s, the U.S. Navy was faced with a crisis. In 1980, the Soviet Union had received information from the Walker family spy ring that the Navy could track its submarines through excessive propeller noise. As a result, the Soviet Union went looking for advanced Western machinery to make better propellers. In 1981, the Japanese company Toshiba sold propeller milling machinery—now relatively common nine-axis CNC milling machines—to the Soviet Union via the Norwegian Kongsberg corporation. By the mid 1980s, the Soviet Union’s...

Why Germany had so many accidents with the F-104 Starfighter

West-Germany was the by far the largest operator of the F-104 Starfighter but both the German Air Force and Navy had a disproportional accident rate with this airplane that made the F-104 gain a reputation it didn't deserve. In this video I analyse why Germany purchased the F-104s and why its operations went so wrong to the point Germany lost almost a third of its aircraft in accidents. One important thing to mention is in this video I only considered accidents that resulted in total loss of an aircraft. It is of course evident that Germany had many more incidents that...

Worst Nightmare for America's Enemies! U.S. Navy X-47B Drone Could Be Reborn

Two years ago, the U.S. Navy made a ridiculously unforced error. This year, Northrop Grumman is going to try to help them fix it. In 2013, Northrop Grumman's X-47B unmanned aerial vehicle became the first "drone" fighter jet to both launch from and land on an aircraft carrier deck. Over the ensuing two years, X-47B successfully completed 37 landings aboard U.S. aircraft carriers, "and multiple catapult launches, arrested landings, and planned autonomous wave-offs." The wind was at Northrop's back, and it was well on its way to inventing a drone air wing for the Navy. Read more:

John Nichol flies in The English Electric Lightning which is a supersonic fighter aircraft of the Cold War era. It was designed, developed, and manufactured by English Electric, which was subsequently absorbed by the newly formed British Aircraft Corporation. It was then marketed as the BAC Lightning. The Lightning was the only all-British Mach 2 fighter aircraft. The Lightning was used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF). Although it was the RAF's primary interceptor for more than two decades it was never required to attack another aircraft.

With a wingspan greater than a Boeing 747, The Bristol Brabazon was the largest aircraft ever built by Britain. More a flying oceanliner than plane, it featured sleeping cabins, a dining room, a cocktail bar and lounge, and even a 23 seat movie theater. The Brabazon was also fitted with cutting edge innovations. A fully pressurized, air conditioned cabin. Electric engine controls, and high-pressure hydraulics to operate its massive control surfaces. It’s enormous wing housed more than 16 thousand gallons of fuel, and eight of the most powerful piston engines available. While the first Brabazon used piston engines, later Brabazon...
